Tortoise 1 and tortoise 2

All change this last week or so for my tortoise. After greenhouse flooding, there was a new landscaped enclosure... and then, finally, arrived a second leopard tortoise for company (after ten years' wait).

Tortoise #1 is overjoyed with tortoise #2 - having grown up with a fluffy white dog for company, I think it's stunned to find a look-alike.

For me, well, this is a busy and stressful week with Photosynthesis2007 coming up in Glasgow. Bring on August!

The tortoise & the halibut...

My poor tortoise. He lives in a greenhouse (or 'tortoisehouse' as it should technically be called).

Unfortunately, thanks to the almost Biblical period of rainfall we've been having in Manchester, he suffered a bit of flooding today. Not quite on the scale of the floods in Hull and Yorkshire but it was enough to cause some disturbance to an otherwise reasonably sedate pace of life.

So I had a nice spell in the garden this evening re-interior-designing the greenhouse. Tortoise now has an en-suite swathe of lawn turf and a new expanse of desert terrain.
