Two dimensions, two colours

Over the last month I've mostly been doing lots of 2D gels looking at the chloroplast proteome. In the same way that the human 'genome' is all the genes in a human, the chloroplast 'proteome' is all the proteins in a chloroplast.

This image shows a close up of a particular zone I'm interested in. The red proteins are attached to membranes, the blue ones are in the liquid portion.
